Incubation and business acceleration centers are the world’s most effective structures that provide for companies’ development in the initiation phase. The success of incubation and business acceleration centers lies not only in offering office space, but also the value they will provide for the entrepreneurs while working on their projects.
The most difficult part of entrepreneurship is converting the idea into practice. This phase is called “Valley of Death”, where 75% of ideas die before they are realized.
The only reason therefor is not funding. In Turkey, recently, an increasing amount of funds has been offered to entrepreneurs through numerous national and international organizations including the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK), Republic of Turkey Small and Medium Enterprises Development Organization (KOSGEB), and non-governmental organizations. The main problem in overcoming the phase called “Valley of Death” is “information gap”.
Thousands of entrepreneurs can create and develop new ideas. However, the critical point is to create a strategy using the information in the entrepreneurial ecosystem and to determine the right path. At this very point, the efficient support of an incubation center is what the entrepreneurs need.
In the technopark’s draft architectural design, the principles envisaged in the Technology Development Zones Application Regulation no. 28939 dated March 12, 2014 were taken into consideration and a special office space was allocated for incubation companies. 10% of the technopark’s leasable area is planned as an incubation center.
