Finance Technopark, established jointly by Boğaziçi University and Borsa İstanbul, is Turkey’s first thematic technopark.The purpose of Finance Technopark is to produce technological and financial information toward making Turkey’s financial sector and industry internationally competitive and export-oriented, make innovations in products and manufacturing methods, enhance product quality or standard, increase productivity, cut production costs, commercialize technological and financial information, support technology-intensive production and entrepreneurship, ensure the adaptation of small and medium sized companies with new and advanced technologies, create investment opportunities in technology-intensive areas in consideration of the decisions of the Supreme Board of Science and Technology, create job opportunities for qualified persons, assist technology transfer and create the technological infrastructure that will accelerate the flow of foreign capital that will offer high/advanced technology through ensuring the cooperation of research companies and organizations with the finance and manufacturing sectors.
In accordance with the Resolution of the Council of Ministers published in the Official Gazette dated August 18, 2014, an area of 10271.68 m2 located in the southeast end of Borsa İstanbul campus was determined as “Finance Technopark Technology Development Zone”. At end-2014, the managing company’s articles of association was prepared and approved by the Science, Industry and Technology Ministry and Customs and Trade Ministry.
Once the legal procedure was completed, Finans Teknopark Anonim Şirketi (Finance Technopark Joint Stock Company) was founded on January 9, 2015.A Technology Development Zone (Zone) refers to a site or a technopark of similar features where academic, economic and social infrastructures are integrated, and where companies employing or working on high/advanced technology produce/develop technology or software, operate to convert a technological discovery into a product, method or service and thereby contribute to the development of the region, by making use of the facilities offered by a university, advanced technology institute or Research & Development (R&D) center or institute and which is located within or near the campus of such university, advanced technology institute or R&D center or institute. Finans Technopark Technology Development Zone is a finance-oriented technology development region.
The managing company is a company established as a joint stock company in accordance with the Technology Development Zones Law no. 4691, and responsible for the management and operation of the Zone. Within this framework, the managing company of Finance Technopark Technology Development Zone is Finans Teknopark A.Ş
